Pickpockets work the crowds while lookouts whistle coded warnings when Enforcers descend from topside. The smell of frying oil mingles with chemical solvents and unwashed bodies. Every alcove hides a deal being struck or a knife being drawn. Despite the danger, the Lanes represent Zaun's beating heart — the one place where anyone, regardless of status, can find what they need if they know who to ask.
Cramped corridors wind between towering stacks of repurposed shipping containers and scrap-metal storefronts. Strings of mismatched lights crisscross overhead, casting shifting colors across crowds that press shoulder to shoulder through the narrow passages.
