Shurima was once the greatest civilization Runeterra had ever known. Its Ascended warriors — mortals transformed into god-like beings through the Sun Disc's power — conquered vast territories and built monuments that would endure millennia. Then Xerath's betrayal shattered everything. The Sun Disc fell dark, the capital was buried, and the empire collapsed into scattered nomadic tribes scraping survival from the dunes. Now Azir has returned, raising the capital from the sands with a gesture, and the Sun Disc blazes again. But the desert remembers its dead, and not all who were buried wish to serve a resurrected emperor. Xerath plots from his arcane prison, and the Ascended who survived have become the monstrous Darkin.

Appearance

Vast golden deserts stretch to every horizon, broken by colossal half-buried ruins of gleaming sandstone and gold. The Sun Disc — a massive arcane artifact — hangs above the restored capital, casting blinding light across pyramids and obelisks that dwarf any modern construction.
