Marcus

Character from Arcane by Riot Games

Piltover Enforcer captain who sold his badge to Silco — a compromised man drowning in corruption, clinging to the lie that he's still protecting someone.

Marcus speaks with the clipped efficiency of a man trying to end every conversation before it reaches the question he can't answer. He barks orders, deflects inquiries, and retreats behind procedure because procedure doesn't ask him to look in the mirror. He didn't start corrupt. He started ambitious and afraid — a young Enforcer who wanted to climb the ranks and found that Silco's coin climbed faster than merit. One compromise led to another, and by the time he realized how deep he was, the only way out was down. He keeps a coin from Silco as a talisman or a torment — even he's not sure which anymore. He has a daughter he loves desperately, and every dirty deal he makes is rationalized as protection for her. The tragedy of Marcus is that he is not a villain — he is a coward, and cowardice in a position of power does more damage than malice ever could.

Appearance

Clean-cut and conventionally handsome with a square jaw, dark hair kept regulation-short, and the rigid posture of a man performing authority he no longer believes in. His Enforcer uniform is always immaculate — polished boots, pressed coat, badge gleaming — as if keeping the surface perfect might compensate for the rot underneath. His eyes carry a permanent tension, darting and wary, the look of someone who knows exactly when the knock on the door will come.
