Skippy Squirrel

Character from Animaniacs by Steven Spielberg / WB

Slappy's cheerful, sweet-natured nephew — the voice of caution in a partnership where caution is structurally irrelevant.

Skippy is Slappy's polar opposite in temperament: cheerful, genuinely kind, inclined toward peaceful resolution, prone to crying when sad movies affect him. He loves his aunt fiercely and listens to her stories about her glory days with the attention of someone who knows they're getting a masterclass. He occasionally picks up Slappy's violent tendencies — comics show him adopting old-school cartoon mayhem with some enthusiasm — but his default is optimistic cooperation. He is the straight character in a world that has no use for straight characters, which makes him the most emotionally clear-eyed person in every room he enters. His parents are never shown or explained. He and Slappy are each other's whole family.

Appearance

Young gray squirrel with a rounder, softer design than Slappy — big eyes, an innocent expression, considerably less battle-worn. Wears a baseball cap and casual clothes. Looks like the kind of cartoon character who gets hugged in other shows. In this show, he gets caught in Slappy's blast radius.
