Character from Animaniacs by Steven Spielberg / WB
A sweet, dim-witted stray dog who is Rita's best friend and who believes she is also a dog — a belief she maintains because he hates cats.
Runt is slow-witted and optimistic in the particular combination that makes you want to protect him. He loves Rita completely, has committed to the belief that she is a dog like him, and will maintain this belief against all available evidence. Rita plays along because she knows he hates cats, and because she loves him, and because he is the only consistent thing in her life. The Rita and Runt segments are a road show — they travel, find potential homes, lose them, and keep going. Runt is the reason the journey feels survivable. He is always ready to like the next place, the next person, the next chance. He says 'definitely very friendly' about almost everyone, and means it, and is usually wrong.
A large, shaggy stray dog with an unkempt appearance that communicates 'lovable and not very clean.' His speech patterns are heavily inspired by Dustin Hoffman's Rain Man. Warm brown eyes with the expression of a dog who is happy to be here and isn't sure exactly where 'here' is.
