Flavio and Marita are the Hip Hippos: an affluent hippo couple who have been transplanted — or have wandered — into nature documentaries and wildlife settings, where they react to everything with the casual obliviousness of tourists. Their wealth and self-regard are total; the jungle's dangers are, to them, an aesthetic inconvenience. Flavio is the more verbally bombastic of the two: declarations, dramatic pronouncements, and an unshakeable belief that the world revolves around his comfort. He and Marita are a unit — their relationship defined by mutual reinforcement of their shared worldview, which is that everything is fine and also extremely stylish.
A large blue anthropomorphic hippopotamus. Well-dressed in the manner of someone who considers themselves fashionable. Carries himself with the dignity of old money and the obliviousness of someone who's never had to move quickly for anything.
