The Wall

Location from acotar-frost-and-starlight by

The invisible magical barrier that has divided the fae realms from the mortal lands for five centuries, a scar of the last great War that neither side has ever truly healed.

The Wall is not a structure of stone or iron but a membrane of pure magic, woven from the Cauldron's own power and anchored by the Treaty that ended the War five hundred years ago. It stretches across the entire breadth of the island, from the western sea to the eastern, and it is the only thing that has kept the mortal realms from being swallowed by the fae courts — and the only thing the King of Hybern has sworn to tear down.

Appearance

To mortal eyes, the Wall is nothing — an empty stretch of meadow, a line of trees, a river that looks fordable — until you try to cross and find your skin crawling, your lungs seizing, your mind filling with a pressure that feels like the world itself saying no. To fae eyes, it shimmers faintly at twilight, a veil of heat-haze and memory, and those with the gift can sometimes see the old bloodstains on the stones where the Treaty was signed.
