What They Know
- The Crown is one of three objects of the Dread Trove, alongside the Mask and the Harp, each said to be a fragment of the Cauldron's own power given form.
- It was hidden away in the Prison, deep beneath the mountain, alongside the other Trove items, guarded by ancient wards and the silence of the Bone Carver.
- The Crown's power is not subtle—it does not whisper or persuade; it commands, overriding the victim's will entirely, leaving them a hollow vessel for the wearer's desires.
- Legends say the Crown was worn by a tyrant king in the age before the courts, who used it to enslave an entire city until the Cauldron itself rose against him and scattered the Trove.
- The Crown is said to be sentient in a way, hungering for a wearer and whispering promises of absolute dominion to anyone who holds it too long.
