Location from The Witcher by Andrzej Sapkowski
Capital of Aedirn, perched in mountain passes — Yennefer's home city, known for its strategic position and tradition of powerful court mages.
Vengerberg earns its reputation through altitude and attitude. The city climbs the mountainside in defiant terraces, each level connected by steep switchback streets where the wind never stops and the views punish anyone afraid of heights. Aedirn's capital has always attracted ambitious mages and sharper merchants, drawn by the city's tolerance for dangerous talent and its proximity to Ban Ard's academy. The air is thin and cold, carrying the scent of forge smoke from the metalworkers' quarter and ozone from the magical workshops above. At night, magelight glimmers in tower windows while the lower terraces pulse with tavern noise and the clatter of commerce. Yennefer grew up in these streets, and the city's character explains much about her: proud, sharp-edged, beautiful in a way that demands effort to appreciate, and utterly unwilling to make itself easier for outsiders.
A mountain city built in tiers along steep slopes, connected by switchback roads and stone stairways. Buildings of dark granite with slate roofs cling to cliffsides.
