Maribor

Location from The Witcher by Andrzej Sapkowski

A strategically vital Temerian city that has weathered sieges and Northern Wars — a military crossroads where armies have clashed.

Maribor's history is written in its walls — layers of stone and timber that record centuries of construction, destruction, and stubborn rebuilding. The city sits at the intersection of trade routes and military corridors, a position that has made it wealthy and made it a target in roughly equal measure. The Battle of Sodden Hill was fought near its approaches, and veterans of that desperate stand still drink in Maribor's taverns, their stories growing louder and less accurate with each passing year. The air carries the smell of the river, horse dung from the caravan yards, and roasting meat from the cook-stalls that line the main thoroughfare. Maribor's taverns serve soldiers more than merchants now, and the garrison presence gives the streets a watchful, military tension that commerce hasn't quite managed to drown out.

Appearance
