Item from The Witcher by Andrzej Sapkowski
Ciri's gnomish gwyhyr silver sword — named 'Swallow' in Elder Speech, perfectly balanced for her fighting style, and one of the rarest blade types on the Continent.
Gnomish gwyhyr swords are not forged — they are grown, through a process gnomish smiths have never shared with any other race, and the secret has made their blades the most sought-after weapons on the Continent. Fewer than a dozen are known to exist. The blade cuts with a precision that makes dwarven steel feel crude by comparison, holding an edge that seems to sharpen itself through use. The sword's name, Zireael, mirrors Ciri's own alias — Swallow in Elder Speech — an identity she chose for herself, making the weapon an extension of who she decided to become rather than who she was born to be. In combat, the gwyhyr's balance is so perfect that it seems to anticipate its wielder's intentions.
A slender silver sword of exceptional craftsmanship, shorter and lighter than standard witcher blades. The blade has a distinctive bluish sheen. Delicate engravings run along the fuller.
