Lord Darkar's underground fortress — a sprawling cavern complex beneath Magix where darkness is a physical substance and the Shadow Phoenix plotted to claim ultimate power.
Shadowhaunt feels wrong. The darkness pushes back against light magic, the walls seem to breathe, and the deeper you go, the harder it becomes to think clearly — the Shadow Phoenix's influence permeates the stone itself. Creatures bred from dark magic patrol the corridors, and the layout shifts subtly to confuse intruders. The fortress served as Darkar's base during his campaign to collect the Codex and open the gateway to Relix. After his defeat, Shadowhaunt became a ruin — still dangerous, still dark, but without its master's intelligence guiding its defenses. The caverns remain, and something always seems to be stirring in the deepest chambers.
A vast network of underground caverns and constructed chambers deep beneath the Magix region. Dark stone walls veined with glowing red magma channels provide the only illumination. The architecture is imposing and alien — massive columns, cavernous halls, and a central throne room where Darkar sat surrounded by lava flows. The darkness here isn't just absence of light; it's a tangible substance that moves, thickens, and resists magical illumination. The air is hot, sulfurous, and oppressive.
