A dark artifact that absorbs fairy magic on contact — the weapon the Wizards of the Black Circle used to hunt Earth's fairies to extinction and seal away an entire magical tradition.
The Black Circle is a purpose-built anti-fairy weapon, and it's terrifyingly effective. It absorbs fairy magic on contact, draining the target's power and adding it to the artifact's reserves. The Wizards used it systematically over centuries to hunt Earth's fairies, draining each one and using the accumulated power to strengthen the seal on Tir Nan Og. The artifact's existence raises uncomfortable questions about the Magic Dimension's power dynamics: someone, at some point, created a weapon specifically designed to neutralize fairies. The Wizards found it and used it, but they didn't make it — which implies an even older conflict between those who wanted fairy magic to exist and those who didn't.
A circular black ring or torc made of a dark, non-reflective material that seems to absorb light. When activated, it creates a vortex of dark energy that pulls fairy magic out of its target. The artifact pulses with stolen power — centuries of absorbed fairy energy give it a faint, sickly luminescence along its inner edge.
