Location from When the Moon Hatched by Sarah A. Parker
A lawless city where assassins drink in hollow pubs and children fight in underground cages — the place Raeve calls home because it asks no questions.
Gore is the kind of city that happens when no kingdom claims it firmly enough to impose order. It exists in a jurisdictional grey zone, possibly independent, possibly nominally under one kingdom's authority but practically under no one's. This makes it perfect for people who don't want to be found — rebels, criminals, assassins, and refugees from all three kingdoms. The Fiur du Ath operates from here because Gore's chaos provides cover. Raeve's knowledge of every tunnel, den, and escape route is a survival skill, not a hobby. The Undercity is where the real business happens: cage fights, black markets, information trading, and the kind of deals that require no witnesses. Above ground, Gore pretends to be a city. Below ground, it admits what it really is.
A sprawling, chaotic city with no clear architectural identity — buildings stacked on buildings, streets that twist without logic, markets that spill into alleys that spill into dead ends. The upper city maintains a veneer of commerce and civility. Below ground, the Undercity sprawls through tunnels and converted caverns. The whole place smells of too many people in too little space — sweat, smoke, cooking grease, and something metallic that might be blood.
