Haedon Nevan

Character from When the Moon Hatched by Sarah A. Parker

Elluin's younger brother — the gentle prince of The Shade whose safety was the chain that bound his sister to a marriage she would rather have died than endure.

Haedon exists in the past timeline as the reason Elluin endured the unendurable. He is gentle where The Shade's court demanded hardness, kind where politics demanded calculation. Elluin's devotion to him was absolute — she would burn herself to keep him safe, and in the end, the threat to Haedon was one of the levers Tyroth and Ostern used to force her compliance. He represents what The Shade could have been under Nevan rule: thoughtful, nurturing, unhardened. His fate after Elluin's apparent death is one of the unanswered questions that haunts the narrative.

Appearance

The softer Nevan features — less sharpened by suffering than his sister's would become. A gentleness visible in his expression and bearing that marks him as someone raised with love rather than violence.
