The Ogier homelands — pockets of ancient forest where the One Power cannot be channeled, providing sanctuary and peace.
Stedding are the Ogier's homes — enclaves of ancient forest scattered across the Westlands. The One Power cannot be channeled within a stedding, making them the safest possible refuge from channelers. During the Breaking, male channelers who entered stedding found relief from the madness — but couldn't stay forever, because the Longing (an Ogier condition) eventually drives Ogier back to their stedding, while channelers need the Source.
Ancient forests of enormous trees, tended by Ogier for millennia. The trees are larger and healthier than any natural forest. The air feels different inside a stedding — channelers describe it as being cut off from the Source, while non-channelers feel a deep sense of peace and belonging.
