Shayol Ghul is where the Bore — the hole drilled into the Dark One's prison — opens into the world. Lews Therin patched it with seals three thousand years ago, and the seals have been weakening ever since. The Last Battle centers here, with Rand entering the Pit of Doom to confront the Dark One directly while armies fight to hold the perimeter.
A jagged mountain of black stone wreathed in perpetual storm clouds. The Pit of Doom lies at its heart — a cavern where the Dark One's influence is so strong that time stops, reality breaks, and channeling becomes unpredictable. The approach is guarded by legions of Shadowspawn. The mountain itself seems alive with malice.
