An empire across the Aryth Ocean that leashes channelers as weapons (damane) — founded by Artur Hawkwing's armies, it returned to conquer the Westlands with exotic beasts and brutal efficiency.

The Seanchan Return is the series' great wildcard — an entire civilization arriving from across the ocean with a completely different political and magical system. They leash female channelers with a'dam and use them as weapons (damane), which every Aes Sedai considers an atrocity and every Seanchan considers natural order. The collision between Westlands and Seanchan values is one of the series' deepest conflicts.

Appearance

The Westlands only see the Return — Seanchan armies with their distinctive lacquered armor, exotic beasts (raken, to'raken, lopar), and chained damane. The homeland across the ocean is a vast, ordered empire of rigid hierarchy where the Blood (nobility) rule absolutely.
