Location from The Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan
Capital of Altara — a hot, colorful port city where dueling is a casual pastime and the Seanchan Return landed with an occupying army.
Ebou Dar is where Mat spent some of his most eventful time — finding the Bowl of the Winds, meeting Tuon, and escaping the Seanchan occupation. The city has a violent culture (dueling is commonplace) and a strong criminal underworld centered in the Rahad. The Seanchan turned it into their continental beachhead.
A Mediterranean-flavored city on the coast, with white buildings, narrow streets, and a dangerous underbelly (the Rahad district). Women wear marriage knives and men carry dueling daggers. The architecture is ornate and sun-bleached. After the Seanchan invasion, exotic beasts and Seanchan soldiers became part of the scenery.
