Caemlyn

Location from The Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan

Capital of Andor — a city of Ogier-built walls and rose gardens that has survived Forsaken infiltration, civil war, and a Trolloc invasion.

Caemlyn is one of the Westlands' greatest cities — the capital of Andor, the most powerful single nation. It survived Rahvin's occupation, Elayne's succession war, and a Shadowspawn invasion that Talmanes barely held. It's been fought over so many times that the citizens have developed a pragmatic attitude toward regime change — they close their shops, bolt their doors, and wait to see who wins.

Appearance

A great walled city divided into the Inner City (Ogier-built, gleaming white) and the New City (human-built, sprawling). The Royal Palace crowns the Inner City. Rose gardens line the approaches, and the city gates are massive enough to resist any conventional siege. The contrast between the ethereal beauty of the Ogier architecture and the practical bustle of the New City defines the visual experience.
