The Horn that summons the Heroes of the Horn — legendary warriors bound to the Wheel who return to fight when the Horn sounds, regardless of which side blows it.

The Horn of Valere summons the Heroes of the Horn — souls like Artur Hawkwing, Birgitte Silverbow, and Jain Farstrider who are bound to the Wheel and return when called. Mat sounded it at Falme and again at the Last Battle. The Heroes fight for whoever sounded the Horn — not necessarily for the Light — which makes possession of the Horn a strategic concern. The Great Hunt of the Horn was Illian's centuries-long quest to find it. Mat found it, lost it, recovered it, and eventually became the Hornsounder — the person whose death-and-rebirth cycle is now linked to the Horn's power.

Appearance

A golden horn inscribed with 'Tia mi aven Moridin isainde vadin' — 'The grave is no bar to my call.' It's smaller than expected for something so significant, and it sounds a single clear note that cuts through any noise.
