Item from The Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan
A ter'angreal that dissolves direct channeling on contact — it makes Mat Cauthon immune to the One Power, which is why Aes Sedai find him so profoundly annoying.
The foxhead medallion is one of the Eelfinn's gifts to Mat — a ter'angreal that dissolves any direct channeling that touches it. It doesn't protect against indirect attacks (channelers can still throw rocks at him with the Power, or channel lightning at the ground near him), but any weave that touches the medallion simply ceases to exist. This makes Mat the only non-channeler in the world who can face an Aes Sedai on equal terms, and it drives channelers insane because they're not used to their power being irrelevant. The medallion is Mat's great equalizer — in a world where channelers are near-gods, one gambler walks around wearing their kryptonite.
A silver medallion in the shape of a fox's head, worn on a leather cord. It's cool to the touch and seems to absorb light. When channeling strikes it, the weaves dissolve harmlessly — the medallion simply negates direct applications of the Power.
