Character from The Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan
Rand's adoptive father — a Two Rivers farmer who was once a blademaster and officer in the Illianer Companions, who found a baby on the slopes of Dragonmount and raised him with love.
Tam left the Two Rivers as a young man, became a soldier, rose to captain of the Illianer Companions, fought in the Aiel War, and found a newborn on Dragonmount — a baby born to a dying Aiel maiden. He took the child home and raised him as his son. Everything good in Rand comes from Tam. At the Last Battle, Tam led the Two Rivers archers. His presence on the battlefield brought Rand full circle — the shepherd's son fighting beside the shepherd.
Stocky and weathered, with the dark coloring of the Two Rivers. He carries a heron-mark blade — the mark of a blademaster — that he keeps hidden because a farmer doesn't need that kind of attention. He moves with quiet competence, whether tending sheep or organizing a defense.
