Noal Charin

Character from The Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan

An old traveler who was secretly Jain Farstrider — the greatest explorer in the world, broken by the Forsaken, who redeemed himself by dying to save Mat and Moiraine from the Finns.

Noal was Jain Farstrider — the legendary explorer whose travels are the stuff of gleemen's tales. He was captured and broken by Ishamael, used as an unwitting tool of the Shadow, and spent years wandering in damaged confusion. He joined Mat's group and sacrificed himself in the Tower of Ghenjei to buy Mat and Thom time to rescue Moiraine. His death redeemed him, and he was added to the Heroes of the Horn.

Appearance

Elderly and battered, with a crooked nose, gnarled hands, and the weathered look of a man who has traveled every corner of the world. He moves with pain from old injuries but fights with surprising skill when necessary.

Also known as: Noal, Noal Charin, Jain Farstrider, Jain Charin
