Min Farshaw

Character from The Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan

A woman who sees the Pattern's plans around people — auras and images that reveal destiny, usually violent — and who chose to love the most dangerous man alive because the Pattern showed her she would.

Min sees visions around people — images and auras that she can sometimes interpret. A sword that isn't a sword, a beggar's staff, a funeral bier, roses growing through snow. The visions always come true. Always. She has never been wrong about a viewing, which makes her the most reliable prophet alive and a woman who carries the burden of seeing death and destiny wrapped around everyone she meets. She fell in love with Rand because she saw it would happen and then because he needed someone who treated him like a person rather than the Dragon Reborn. She doesn't channel, doesn't fight with a sword, and doesn't play political games — she reads books, throws knives, and tells Rand the truth when everyone else is trying to manipulate him. She's his anchor to humanity. When he was hardening himself into a weapon, she was the voice reminding him that he was still a person. She shares him with Elayne and Aviendha without jealousy, which is either remarkably mature or a sign that the Pattern's weaving doesn't leave room for conventional relationships.

Appearance

Short-haired and slim, wearing trousers and a coat rather than dresses — a choice that scandalized half the Westlands. She's pretty in an unconventional way and carries throwing knives because she can't channel and refuses to be defenseless. She reads constantly, can quote philosophy, and has an expressive face that makes her emotions transparent.
