Character from The Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan
An Aiel warrior who pledged himself to Perrin after being freed from a cage — loyal, laconic, and navigating a love triangle that he finds more confusing than combat.
Gaul was captured and caged by Whitecloaks. Perrin freed him. In Aiel culture, this created a life-debt that Gaul fulfilled by becoming Perrin's constant companion and most reliable fighter. He followed Perrin into Tel'aran'rhiod during the Last Battle, fighting Slayer in the Wolf Dream despite having no experience with it, because Perrin needed someone at his back.
Tall and red-haired with the typical Aiel build — lean, hard, and designed for the Waste. He wears cadin'sor and carries spears with the natural ease of someone who's been fighting since childhood.
