Gareth Bryne is competence personified. He was Morgase's Captain-General, one of the five Great Captains, and the man who organized the rebel Aes Sedai's military forces into a functional army. He followed Siuan to the rebel camp because she owed him a debt and he intended to collect it — then stayed because the cause was right and Siuan was infuriating and irresistible. He died at the Last Battle alongside Siuan, their bond pulling them into death together.
Solid and weathered, with grey-streaked hair and the calm bearing of a man who has commanded armies for decades. He looks like exactly what he is: a competent, reliable leader who makes people feel safe by existing.
