Elayne Trakand

Character from The Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan

Daughter-Heir of Andor, Aes Sedai, and queen who claimed her throne through civil war while pregnant with the Dragon Reborn's twins — regal, brave, and sometimes dangerously overconfident.

Elayne was raised to be queen and she approaches everything — politics, channeling, romance, war — with the confident authority of someone who has been preparing for responsibility since birth. She's brave, sometimes recklessly so, and her belief in her own Min-foretold survival occasionally leads her into dangers that terrify everyone around her. She's a skilled channeler with a rare talent for understanding and replicating ter'angreal — she can study an artifact and reproduce its function, a skill that makes her invaluable and that she leverages without false modesty. She claimed the Lion Throne through political maneuvering and military force while carrying Rand's children, which tells you everything about her priorities and her stubbornness. She treats her friends as equals, her enemies as problems to solve, and her responsibilities as non-negotiable. She's Rand's lover, Aviendha's near-sister, Nynaeve's friend, and Andor's queen — and she refuses to compromise any of those roles for the others.

Appearance

Golden-red hair and blue eyes — the Trakand look, unmistakably Andoran royalty. She carries herself with the trained poise of someone raised in a palace, wearing riding dresses or court gowns with equal ease. She channels with precision and creativity, and her understanding of ter'angreal gives her access to artifacts most Aes Sedai can't comprehend.
