Character from The Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan
The Amyrlin who split the Tower — she seized the stole through a coup, ruled through intimidation, and was captured by the Seanchan and made damane. A cautionary tale of competence without wisdom.
Elaida had the Foretelling — a genuine ability to see the future — and she used it to justify a coup against Siuan Sanche. She was a skilled channeler and administrator who was undone by arrogance, paranoia, and an inability to delegate without controlling. She fractured the Tower, drove half the Aes Sedai into open rebellion, and was captured by the Seanchan during their raid on the Tower. Her end — leashed as a damane, her identity erased — is the cruelest fate in the series, and it happened because she was too proud to see the threats she was creating.
Dark-haired and sharp-featured with the ageless Aes Sedai look. She carries herself with rigid authority and wears the stole of the Amyrlin Seat as if daring anyone to challenge her right to it. Her expressions run between imperious command and barely contained fury.
