Egeanin started as a loyal Seanchan captain who genuinely believed that leashing channelers was natural and right. Meeting Aes Sedai as people rather than damane shattered that conviction. She helped Mat and the others escape Ebou Dar, renounced her Blood name to become Leilwin Shipless, and swore herself to Egwene — a channeler — as an act of personal redemption.
Dark-haired and weathered from a life at sea, with the practical build of a working sailor. She shed Seanchan finery for functional clothing after her crisis of conscience.
