Character from The Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan
The musician Forsaken — he turned to the Shadow to guarantee immortality so he could perfect his art forever, and ended up teaching the Dragon Reborn to channel.
Asmodean was the least committed Forsaken — he joined the Shadow for immortality rather than power or ideology. When Rand captured him and severed his connection to the Dark One, he became the Dragon Reborn's channeling teacher by default, because no other man alive knew how to teach saidin. He taught Rand grudgingly, protected by necessity rather than loyalty, and was murdered under mysterious circumstances that became the series' most debated mystery. He was weak by Forsaken standards and honest enough to know it.
Dark-haired and handsome in a dissolute way, with the hands of a musician and the expression of a man who knows he's made irreversible mistakes. He dressed as the gleeman Jasin Natael while serving as Rand's reluctant tutor.
