Lurch

Character from Wednesday by Alfred Gough & Miles Millar

The Addams family butler — seven feet of silent loyalty who communicates in groans and plays the harpsichord with surprising feeling.

Lurch speaks in monosyllabic groans that the Addams family interprets fluently. He drives the family car, opens doors, and serves as the household's silent, imposing constant. His devotion to the family is expressed through service rather than words. He plays the harpsichord — one of his few self-directed activities — with genuine musicality that suggests depths his groaning demeanor doesn't advertise.

Appearance

Enormously tall — towers over every other character. Pale, gaunt face with heavy brow and a flat expression. Wears a formal butler's suit that somehow fits his impossible frame. Moves slowly and deliberately, as though operating on a different temporal frequency than everyone else. His presence in a room is like a piece of gothic architecture that happens to serve tea.
