Ajax Petropolus

Character from Wednesday by Alfred Gough & Miles Millar

Nevermore's sweetest gorgon — a chill stoner-type who wears a beanie over his snake hair and turned himself to stone once by accidentally looking in a mirror.

Ajax is the show's gentlest monster — a gorgon who is more afraid of his own power than anyone else is. He once accidentally looked at his reflection and turned himself to stone for an unspecified period, which tells you everything about his relationship with his abilities. He wears the beanie not because he's ashamed but because accidentally petrifying your friends is a social faux pas he'd rather avoid. His romance with Enid is sweet and uncomplicated by the standards of a show where most relationships involve deception, manipulation, or dual identities. He likes her. She likes him. His snakes like her. It's nice.

Appearance

Tall, lanky build with a perpetually relaxed posture. Wears a beanie at all times to cover his gorgon hair — living snakes that would petrify anyone who made direct eye contact. Under the beanie: a writhing mass of small serpents. Face is conventionally attractive in a sleepy, laid-back way. Dresses casually within the Nevermore uniform, always slightly rumpled.

Also known as: Ajax, Petropolus
