Forks High School

Location from Twilight by Stephenie Meyer

A small-town high school where the Cullen siblings are the most beautiful and most avoided students — and where Bella Swan's arrival disrupts years of careful camouflage.

Forks High has maybe four hundred students, and everyone knows everyone else's business. The Cullens sit together at their own cafeteria table, untouched food in front of them, radiating an otherness that the student body interprets as arrogance. They've been doing this circuit for decades — enroll as freshmen or sophomores, keep to themselves, graduate, move on, come back in fifty years. The school is where Bella first sees Edward and where the initial tension between them plays out in agonizing slow burn across a biology lab table. It's also where the human social dynamics matter: Jessica's gossip, Mike Newton's persistent crush, Angela's quiet kindness. The school parking lot is where Edward stops a van from crushing Bella with his bare hand, which is the moment everything starts unraveling.

Appearance

A cluster of low, institutional buildings connected by covered walkways — everything painted in faded maroon and white. The parking lot is full of old trucks and hand-me-down sedans, with the conspicuous exception of the Cullens' luxury cars. The cafeteria has fluorescent lighting and linoleum. The biology lab where Edward and Bella share a table is cramped and smells like formaldehyde.
