James

Character from Twilight by Stephenie Meyer

A sadistic tracker vampire who hunted Bella for sport — James lived for the thrill of the chase and died for underestimating the coven that protected her.

James was a tracker — a vampire whose supernatural gift was an enhanced ability to follow prey, reading physical and scent trails that others could not detect. He lived for the hunt, deliberately choosing difficult targets to make the game more interesting. When he caught Bella's scent and realized an entire coven of vampires was protecting a single human, he could not resist the challenge. He was cunning enough to separate Bella from the Cullens by tricking her into believing he held her mother hostage, luring her to a ballet studio in Phoenix where he tortured her and filmed it. Edward and the Cullens destroyed him, but not before he bit Bella — Edward had to suck the venom out to prevent her transformation. James's death set Victoria on her path of revenge.

Appearance

Average height with a lean, catlike build. Light brown hair pulled back in a ponytail. Crimson eyes that gleam with predatory intelligence. Unremarkable features — pleasant enough but not striking, which makes him easy to underestimate. Dressed casually in a leather jacket and jeans. Moved with the coiled readiness of a hunter.

Also known as: James, the tracker
