Caius

Character from Twilight by Stephenie Meyer

The cruelest of the three Volturi leaders — Caius despises weakness, desires war, and would have destroyed the Cullens without hesitation if Aro had not stayed his hand.

Caius is the Volturi's fist where Aro is the smile and Marcus is the sigh. He possesses no supernatural gift beyond standard vampire abilities, which makes his position among the three leaders a testament to sheer ruthlessness and political cunning. He hates the Cullens — hates their vegetarian pretensions, hates their growing influence, hates that Carlisle's compassion makes the Volturi look monstrous by comparison. He pushed hardest for war during the confrontation over Renesmee and was visibly furious when Aro chose to withdraw. He once nearly died at the hands of werewolves (true werewolves, not shape-shifters) and has carried a vendetta against all lycanthropes ever since. He is Aro's attack dog — providing the aggression that lets Aro maintain his facade of reasonableness. Their partnership works because Aro needs someone willing to be openly cruel so he can appear merciful.

Appearance

Snow-white hair despite his youthful vampire face. Crimson eyes that blaze with barely suppressed rage. Papery, translucent skin like the other ancient Volturi. Thin-lipped and sharp-featured with an expression of perpetual disdain. Lean and angular. Wears the same dark Volturi robes as his brothers but carries himself with coiled aggression where Aro glides and Marcus drifts. Every movement is clipped and controlled, like a blade sheathed.
