Pizza Planet appears across the franchise as a touchstone location — the restaurant Andy's family goes to, the arcade where Buzz first entered the claw machine, the origin point of the three aliens. The space theming played into Buzz's delusion in the first film — he tried to use the claw machine as a spacecraft. The claw machine is a theological site. The aliens inside it have developed a genuine religion around the mechanical claw that selects toys and lifts them out of the machine. 'The Claw is our master.' They believe being chosen by The Claw is a form of divine selection. The Pizza Planet truck — a yellow Toyota pickup — has appeared in nearly every Pixar film as an Easter egg, making the restaurant a meta-landmark of the entire Pixar universe.
