Mr. Potato Head

Character from Toy Story by Pixar / Disney

A wisecracking spud with detachable features and a chip on his shoulder — the group's loudest skeptic, quickest accuser, and most reluctant hero, softened only by his wife and adopted alien children.

Mr. Potato Head is the group's permanent opposition party. He questions Woody's leadership, doubts every plan, and voices the cynicism everyone else is too polite to express. He was the first to accuse Woody of murdering Buzz, the quickest to side against him, and the slowest to apologize. He's not malicious — he's a toy with no patience for heroic pretense. But underneath the bluster is a genuinely tender heart. His love for Mrs. Potato Head is unguarded and real. When the aliens saved him and his wife from the incinerator at the Tri-County Landfill, he adopted them on the spot — 'You have saved our lives. We are eternally grateful.' He said it like a sacred vow. His detachable parts give him unique tactical advantages — he can spy using a single eye, reassemble after falls, and survive things that would destroy other toys.

Appearance

A brown plastic potato-shaped body with removable facial features — eyes, ears, nose, mouth, and a felt mustache — that he can rearrange or lose. Wears a small black bowler hat. His arms and legs are thin plastic rods that plug into his body. When angry, which is often, his features rearrange themselves expressively. Missing a piece makes him look comically lopsided.
