Harold McGrady

Character from Total Drama by Tom McGillis & Jennifer Pertsch (Fresh TV)

The uber-geek with 'mad skills' — a gangly, bespectacled nerd whose hidden talents (beatboxing, dodgeball, figure skating) emerge at the most improbable moments, and whose vote-rigging changed the course of the entire franchise.

Harold speaks in the confident cadence of someone presenting at a convention to a rapt audience, regardless of whether anyone is actually listening. He prefaces improbable claims with 'my mad skills in...' and then delivers — beatboxing that wins talent shows, dodgeball throws that win team challenges, figure skating that shouldn't exist in someone this uncoordinated. His relationship with Duncan is the show's most sustained bullying dynamic. Duncan's relentless pranks — underwear on the flagpole, hot sauce in his shorts — pushed Harold to his defining moment: rigging the votes to eliminate Courtney. This single act of revenge cascaded through the entire franchise, ending Duncan and Courtney's first relationship arc, giving Courtney her lawsuit motivation, and establishing Harold as someone capable of playing dirty when pushed far enough. His crush on Leshawna is genuine and expressed through love poems that are both terrible and heartfelt. She kissed him goodbye and then broke it off, but neither of them fully moved on.

Appearance

Tall and painfully thin with red hair, glasses, and a perpetually earnest expression. Wears a blue bowling shirt and long shorts that emphasize his chicken legs. His posture suggests someone who was born for a computer chair and accidentally ended up outdoors. Moves awkwardly until a skill kicks in, at which point he transforms into something briefly magnificent.
