Terrasen

Location from Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas

The northern kingdom of snow-capped mountains and ancient forests — Aelin's ancestral homeland, conquered and brutalized by Adarlan, waiting a decade for its queen to come home and set it free.

Terrasen smells like pine resin, cold stone, and the kind of clean mountain air that strips away pretense. It's a hard land that breeds hard people — the Terrasen lords are warriors, the winters are brutal, and the loyalty runs deeper than the tree roots. Under Adarlan's occupation, Terrasen bled. Its magic users were hunted, its noble houses scattered or destroyed, its people subjugated. The kingdom's liberation isn't just political — it's the restoration of something sacred, the return of fire and magic to a land that was stripped of both. The land responds to Aelin the way a dog responds to its returning owner — with a joy that borders on the sentient.

Appearance

Vast northern landscapes of dense pine forests, snow-capped mountain ranges (the Staghorns), wild rivers, and fortified cities built from mountain stone. The Oakwald Forest covers much of the interior. The land itself feels ancient and watchful — as if the mountains remember what was taken from them.
