The Judgment Day is half oceanographic research vessel, half cult ship. It moves slowly between international waters, picking up new disciples in port and dropping off no one. The crew live in dormitories. Meals are taken communally. The work is reverent: every Trisolaran transmission is logged in triplicate by hand and by machine. Evans walks the corridors at night. At the end of Book 1 the ship is scheduled to transit the Panama Canal. Da Shi has a plan involving Wang Miao's nanofilament. The vault must survive. The crew, in his calculation, does not need to.
A massive secondhand tanker, painted plain dark gray, hull patched in places. The deck has been stripped of pumps and pipework and rebuilt with antenna arrays, satellite dishes and observation domes. Below decks: server rooms, dormitories for hundreds of ETO faithful, a cathedral-like meeting hall where Evans addresses his followers, and a vault containing the only complete archive of Trisolaran transmissions.
