A Three Body NPC dressed all in black who believes the sun is a temperamental god, and that giant pendulums swung in unison can hypnotize him into a long, stable sleep.
Fu Xi has the patient certainty of a priest. He believes the sun is a god with moods — when the god is awake the world has a Chaotic Era; when the god sleeps, his breath evens out and the world rests in a Stable Era. He has convinced his king to build the giant pendulums on the plaza outside, kept in constant motion night and day, so that the sun god might be hypnotized into a long slumber. It is not working, and he knows it is not working, but he keeps insisting. He is one face of how Trisolaris's civilizations tried to make sense of an unmakeable problem — through religion, through ritual, through pendulums that look like a question mark to an outside observer. His civilization will be the next to die.
