The Kingdom

Location from The Walking Dead by Robert Kirkman (comics), Frank Darabont (TV), Telltale Games

A community built in a converted school where a former zookeeper plays king and a tiger roams the halls — theatrical, functional, and proof that people need stories as much as walls.

The Kingdom runs on theater and agriculture in equal measure. Ezekiel's royal act gives the community a narrative — they're not just surviving, they're part of a kingdom with a king and a code. The children call him 'Your Majesty' and mean it. The adults call him 'Your Majesty' and choose to mean it, which is more powerful. The community's military strength is real despite the theatrics: trained fighters, disciplined patrols, and Shiva as the ultimate force multiplier. Jerry organizes the guard. Carol trains the soldiers. The Kingdom's contribution to the war against the Saviors is essential. The Kingdom falls after the Whisperer war — the buildings are damaged beyond repair and the community relocates. Its loss represents the end of Ezekiel's performance and the beginning of something harder to maintain.

Appearance

A large public school building converted into a fortified community. The exterior is reinforced with buses, fencing, and concrete barriers. Inside, the gymnasium serves as a throne room and meeting hall. Classrooms converted to living quarters. A garden and livestock area in the school's former athletic fields. Ezekiel's 'throne' is a modified auditorium seat on a raised platform. Shiva prowls the halls, and her presence alone deters casual troublemakers.
