Item from The Walking Dead by Robert Kirkman (comics), Frank Darabont (TV), Telltale Games
Dale's Winnebago — the group's first mobile home, lookout tower, and symbol of the journey, held together by Dale's love and increasingly desperate mechanical improvisation.
The RV is the group's first community in physical form. Dale drove it before the apocalypse because his wife wanted to see the country. After she died, he kept driving because the RV was her dream and abandoning it meant abandoning her. It serves as lookout post (rooftop with binoculars and lawn chair), mobile shelter, supply transport, and gathering place. Every breakdown is a crisis. Every repair is a small victory. The radiator hose becomes a running joke and genuine plot device. The RV appears across multiple seasons, eventually driven by different characters after Dale's death. It's the group's longest-surviving possession and the closest thing to a constant in a world of perpetual displacement.
A 1973 Winnebago Chieftain — beige and brown with a distinctive boxy shape. The roof serves as a lookout platform. The interior has a small kitchen, sleeping area, and storage. It's perpetually overheating, the radiator hose is a recurring problem, and duct tape features prominently in its maintenance. Despite its condition, it's home — the only structure that travels with the group.
