Ezekiel saved her from the zoo during the outbreak by treating an injured paw. She imprinted on him and has been his companion since. Their bond is genuine — she responds to his voice, follows his commands, and protects him without training. She's the ultimate proof of his 'king' persona: real kings have loyal beasts. Her death — overwhelmed by walkers while protecting Ezekiel during the Savior war — is the show's most emotionally manipulative moment involving a non-human character. She fought until she couldn't fight anymore, and Ezekiel's grief is the cost of having had something so extraordinary.
