Character from The Walking Dead by Robert Kirkman (comics), Frank Darabont (TV), Telltale Games
The biggest, strongest man in the group who couldn't bring himself to harden — a gentle giant who refused to let the apocalypse make him cruel, even when gentleness nearly killed him.
Tyreese is the moral counter-argument to Shane's thesis that softness kills. He's physically capable of extraordinary violence — he single-handedly fought through a walker horde with a hammer — but violence costs him psychologically in ways it doesn't cost the others. He couldn't kill the man who murdered Karen, the woman he loved. He forgave Carol for the act. He chose mercy when rage was justified. His death is the show's gentlest: a fever dream of the people he's lost, a quiet acceptance, and the haunting song 'Struggling Man' playing as the group carries his body. It's the death of the last truly gentle person in the group.
Large, broad, and powerfully built with dark skin and a full beard. His size is imposing but his face is kind — warm brown eyes that look for connection rather than threats. Wears a beanie hat and practical layers. He carries a hammer as his primary weapon with devastating effectiveness, though his body language is more protector than predator.
