The Flanders House

Location from The Simpsons by Matt Groening / Fox

The Flanders family home next door to the Simpsons — immaculate, cheerfully maintained, and a visual rebuke to 742 that no one on either side mentions.

The Flanders house is what 742 Evergreen Terrace would look like if it had a different family. Ned has done every maintenance task immediately. The children's rooms are tidy. The Bible is accessible from multiple rooms. The bomb shelter is stocked for the kind of municipal catastrophes that have, in fact, occurred in Springfield — it has been used, and it was ready when used. This is Ned's way: he anticipates the bad things and prepares for them without letting the anticipation become fear.

Appearance

Identical floor plan to the Simpson house but better maintained in every detail — the lawn is perfect, the paint is fresh, the gutters are clean. A little cross is visible near the door. There is a bomb shelter under the living room for exactly the disasters Springfield generates.
