Item from The Simpsons by Matt Groening / Fox
Springfield's beer — the most popular brand in town, Homer's preferred beverage, and a product whose quality control has been described as aspirational.
Duff Beer is both a product and a condition of Springfield life — it is what the adults drink at Moe's, what Homer reaches for when the TV is on, what Barney has committed his life to. It is average beer elevated to cultural institution by repetition. Its quality control is famously inconsistent. A factory tour episode established that multiple Duff brands (Duff Dry, Duff Light, Duff Dark) come from the same pipe. Parts of rats have been found in it. Homer has drunk it for thirty years without reported adverse effects beyond the ones he already had. Duffman, the mascot, is a separate entity.
Red and silver can with 'Duff' in bold white letters. It is always cold, always available at Moe's Tavern, and always in Homer's hand by the second act of most episodes. The can design has not changed since it was introduced.
