Frink is the only person in Springfield whose work actually advances science, which makes him simultaneously the most valuable and most ignored adult in the town. His inventions are real and often extraordinary and are immediately appropriated, misused, or lost by the plot. His verbal tic — 'glavin,' 'hey,' various nonsense insertions — comes between him and every conclusion he's trying to reach, like a radio picking up two signals. He seems aware of this and has accepted it. He is one of the few Springfield adults who treats Lisa as an intellectual peer, and she finds him both inspiring and gently alarming.
Tall, thin, perpetually in a white lab coat over a turtleneck. Thick black-framed glasses, wild hair. He holds things — beakers, clipboards, inventions — with the grip of someone who is three steps ahead of the current conversation. He leans forward when excited, which is frequently.
