Location from The Realm of the Elderlings by Robin Hobb
A coastal village where the Red Ships first demonstrated Forging — stripping the humanity from captives and sending the hollow shells home to terrorize their own families.
Forge is a wound in the Six Duchies' memory. It was here that the OutIslands raiders first used Forging — their most terrible weapon — turning ordinary villagers into creatures without empathy, compassion, or human connection. The Forged walked home and became horrors, stealing from their own families, attacking their own children, living as empty shells. The name 'Forge' became a verb. 'Forged' became the word for the worst thing that could happen to a person. The village itself is small and unimportant; what happened there is not.
A small fishing village on the Buck coast — unremarkable stone buildings, a harbor, a smithy that gave the town its name. After the Red Ship attack, some structures were damaged and never fully rebuilt. It looks like what it is: a place where something terrible happened.
